BMES Background and History

Business and Medical English Services (BMES) was founded by Ian Badger in 1985 to develop English language skills in the paper and engineering industries and for the medical professions. Since that time BMES has worked continuously with major international companies to develop the communication skills needed in a changing and challenging global business environment. We have substantial experience in delivering targeted training for personnel in Finance, Logistics, Sourcing, IT, HR, Secretarial / support functions, Production /Maintenance and global project areas.  Our principal clients are UPM-Kymmene, Metso Paper, Vattenfall and Peterson Packaging. In the medical field, BMES has been involved in major projects in the UK, Hungary and Kazakhstan.

BMES is based in Bristol, UK, but our trainers have experience of running training courses and programmes throughout Europe at sites specified by our clients - in training centres, hotels, company offices and on industrial premises.. We work closely with our clients to tailor language and communication training solutions to their needs using face-to-face and distance learning methodology.
